What we are looking for?
We’re looking for a commercially aware Pre-Construction Lead to support projects from estimating through to handover. You’ll bring strong engineering knowledge, with the ability to manage design, procurement, and planning phases effectively.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and the supply chain to develop procurement strategies, manage risk, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and set up for successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
· Managing project design delivery for internal and external design teams including drawing reviews / sign off.
· Prepare and issue technical submittals for major plant and equipment
· Develop financial reports and buying plans to improve project margins
· Review contract documents to ensure alignment with project estimate and agreed VE / derogations
· Establish project risk and opportunities including value engineering
· Support with development of pre-construction / construction programmes with design and project teams.
· Engage with specialist sub-contractors to agree project scope, manage their design output, hold pre let meetings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
· Attend internal & External project meetings as required
Skills & Experience:
· A strong understanding of the construction industry, with experience in the M&E sector essential
· A Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and products.
· A working knowledge of electrical systems / products is beneficial but not essential
· Prior experience in a site-based role is beneficial
· A good understanding of project design procedures
· A sound commercial knowledge
· A varied sector experience preferable including MOD, MOJ, DFE & Healthcare
· Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply logical thinking to complex project plans.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
