Buyer (Mechanical)
Contract - Permanent, Full time - Monday to Friday
What we are looking for?
We are seeking an experienced Buyer to support the Procurement Team by sourcing materials and services for projects. This role involves managing purchase orders, building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, monitoring deliveries, and resolving issues to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement. The Buyer plays a crucial role in ensuring projects run smoothly, are delivered on time, and meet quality, cost, and budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Input and manage purchase orders within the system in liaison with suppliers.
Build and maintain productive, mutually beneficial supplier relationships to support timely delivery and cost-effective purchasing.
Monitor the progress of material deliveries, proactively identify issues, and work to resolve them to ensure projects are completed on time.
Work closely with the Accounts team to resolve invoice-related queries accurately and efficiently.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product developments, pricing, availability, and suitable alternatives, ensuring the team is kept informed.
Contribute to meetings with colleagues, contractors, and customers to support clear communication of project requirements and progress.
Support the Procurement Team by ensuring smooth and efficient operational processes.
Manage general administrative duties, including document control, data management, printing, and filing.
Skills & Experience:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective supplier and stakeholder relationships.
Working knowledge of pipework and mechanical building services installations.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
High level of attention to detail, with strong problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Experience using the Sage Purchase Ordering System would be advantageous.
