Health and Safety Assistant (Part-time)
Contract: 12 months
What we are looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Assistant/Administrator to Support the implementation of positive H&S initiatives and ensure standards of quality, safety, and integrity are maintained. Collaborate with clients, project teams, and the supply chain to promote a safe working environment. Help protect the company’s long-term success by working efficiently and supporting your team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange site audits with the external health and safety advisor and ensure reports are shared and actions completed.
- Review and update all health and safety policies annually.
- Attend Environmental and Carbon Footprint committee meetings and take minutes.
- Maintain and update the company’s H&S action plan.
- Prepare monthly H&S memos, bulletins, and internal reports for Directors.
- Keep documentation up to date to reflect current H&S procedures and initiatives.
- Share relevant H&S news, training, and industry updates across the business.
- Act as the main contact for health and safety queries.
- Support project teams with method statements, risk assessments, and training bookings.
- Monitor relevant health and safety email accounts and ensure reports are actioned.
- Upload monthly data and report on the Accident Frequency Rate (AFR).
- Manage and champion the HandsHQ system, including training staff and updating RAMS annually.
Skills & Experience:
- Good knowledge of health and safety policies, risk assessments, and compliance processes.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling documents and reports.
- Confident with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document control systems.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal — able to liaise with internal teams and external auditors.
